Citroën’s distinctively styled flagship, DS5, has added another exciting award to its CV of achievements as DS5 Hyrbid4 was named ‘Best Eco Car’ at the recent Scottish Car of the Year Awards, as voted for by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
‘Out greening’ three other contenders to the title, DS5 Hybrid4 stood apart from the competition with its innovative and ecologically considerate drivetrain, which delivers impressive performance combined with fuel and CO2 efficiency.
The advanced, 200hp full hybrid diesel powertrain combines several technologies to deliver outstanding CO2 emissions as low as 91g/km.
John Murdoch, President at the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said; “Making the most of every drop of fuel is the perpetual quandary of car makers. Whilst some try to go further by skimping on equipment or driving pleasure Citroën DS5 offers all this and much more. It uses ingenious hybrid technology to cut emissions and boost economy, yet it also has all the style and glamour associated with the iconic name.”
New Citroën DS5 was also shortlisted for the ‘Best Family Car’ award, a title previously bestowed upon the model by Top Gear Magazine in their 2011 awards. Earlier this year, Citroën DS5 was named ‘Best Large Car’ in Diesel Car magazine’s Car of the Year Awards and the DS5 Hybrid4 was runner up in the ‘Eco Car’ category.
Fredéric Soulier, Managing Director of Citroën Motors Ireland, commented; “Our new Citroën flagship’s distinctive styling, sophisticated design and creative technology have received positive praise from both public and press. This latest accolade at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards is further evidence that Citroën is getting it right with the DS line.”
